In the first half of this year, Temu attracted an average of 115.7 million Europeans to its platform each month. That’s 12.9 million more than in the second half of last year. Remarkably, the growth in Temu’s top European markets was above average.
As a Very Large Online Platform, Temu is required under the Digital Services Act to publish a transparency report every six months. These reports include the average number of monthly users across the entire European Union, as well as in the individual member states.
Strong growth in top markets
The new report, covering the first half of this year, shows that the average number of monthly users grew by 12.5 percent, reaching 115.7 million unique users across the EU. A large part of this growth is due to the strong expansion in Temu’s key European markets. France leads the way with 2.6 million new Temu users, an increase of 19.4 percent. In Spain, the user base grew by 15.6 percent.

Germany also saw a sharp increase in Temu users, as did the other top markets Poland and Italy.

Temu is under close scrutiny from interest groups and governments across Europe and in individual member states. Just last week, France suggested in Brussels that the platform should be delisted from Google and other search engines if it continues to breach European rules on, among other things, product safety.
European marketplace and local fulfilment
For just over a year now, Temu has been allowing European merchants to sell on its platform. The company also aims to ship more online orders from within Europe. Its stated goal is for 80 percent of all European orders to be shipped from local warehouses.
