14 Best Restaurants in California’s Point Reyes National Seashore

If you’re heading to Point Reyes National Seashore, my words of advice are to go there hungry—especially if you are a seafood lover. This stretch of coastline has some of the best oysters, pizza, and farm-to-table restaurants you’ll find in California.

I took on the delicious task of finding you the best places to eat along the Point Reyes seashore, and here they are.

For more Point Reyes ideas see my list of over 25 fun things to do in Point Reyes. If you’re short on time, check out my Perfect Day Trip to Point Reyes.

Tomales

Route One Bakery & Kitchen

Route One Bakery Pizza

This tiny little spot is all about homemade goodness, served up in the most laid-back, unpretentious way. Their pastries are yummy, but I’m a HUGE fan of their bread and pizza. The sourdough olive round was so good, that I had to take a loaf to go. It makes sense why it’s served at many of the local eateries. And, the pizza? I may be still dreaming about the simple Margherita with fresh mozzarella.

Plus, their outdoor counter setup makes it the perfect spot for a quick, no-fuss bite. Just a heads up, the service area is entirely outdoors, so check their social media to make sure they’re open on those bad weather days.

27000 Shoreline Hwy, Tomales, CA 94971

Marshall

Hog Island Oyster Farm

If you love oysters, Hog Island will be your happy place. Located right on Tomales Bay, this spot serves some of the freshest oysters you’ll ever eat. You really can’t go wrong with the oysters of the day, which were Hog Island Sweetwater when I was there. But the star of the show for me? The grilled oysters with chipotle bourbon butter—drool.

Everything here is locally sourced, from the bread to the cheese, and the waterside seating makes it a dreamy spot for lunch on a sunny day.

Tip: Thursdays are walk-in only, and it’s way less crowded then! Otherwise you need to make reservations.

The Marshall Store

Rustic charm meets seafood heaven at The Marshall Store. Grab a seat on their patio overlooking the bay and order the smoked oysters—so smoky, so tender, so good. Their clam chowder is creamy and packed with flavor, and the Dungeness crab sandwich? Worth every penny. Keep an eye out for seals while you dine—they love to pop up and say hello.

Nick’s Cove

With nearly a century of history, Nick’s Cove blends old-school roadhouse vibes with a modern coastal flair. Recently, “Top Chef Masters” winner Chris Cosentino gave the menu a revamp, drawing inspiration from his Rhode Island roots and creating a seafood-focused lineup that keeps both the classics—like fish and chips and cioppino—and fresh updates like Fries with Eyes (yes, that’s whole fried smelt!).

Tony’s Seafood Restaurant

Tony’s Seafood is a seaside gem that perfectly blends West Marin charm with top-notch seafood. Perched right over Tomales Bay, this sunlit spot has been a local favorite since 1948, now lovingly restored under the ownership of Hog Island Oyster Co. The menu is a seafood lover’s dream—think crispy fried oysters, grilled BBQ oysters, creamy clam chowder packed with whole clams, and a seafood stew that tastes like the ocean in a bowl. Chef Matt Shapiro, a fisherman and forager, ensures every dish reflects the bay’s bounty with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Whether you’re savoring mussels in spicy tomato broth or piling into an oyster po’boy, the food is as incredible as the views—rolling hills, shimmering waters, and golden sunsets. Tony’s warm, welcoming vibe makes you feel like part of the family, even if it’s your first visit.

Traveling Soon? Use my Favorite Resources for Booking Your Trip!

Book Your Flight
Skyscanner is my favorite flight search engine, because it checks dozens of airlines so you can easily find the best fare deals. You can also select ‘cheapest month’ to find the lowest fares for your destination (I use this all the time!).

Book Your Accommodations
I use both Booking.com and Expedia for hotels, because each offers a couple different hotel choices and I like to compare the reviews on each one. If you have a group or are looking for more of a home atmosphere, head over to VRBO or AirBNB that has houses, apartments and even just a room for rent in every price range.

Book Your Rental Car
If love the freedom to explore like I do, driving from place to place is the best option! I always book with Discover Cars for the best prices and top brand options.

Book Some Fun Tours!
Viator and Get Your Guide are my go-to search engines for cool bucket list experiences! Each one can have different tours, so check both—why limit yourself, right?

Don’t Forget Travel Insurance
Travel can be unpredictable. Whether it’s a last-minute cancellation, an injury, or (ugh) theft, things happen. That’s why I recommend never leaving the country without travel insurance. Here are my faves: Safety Wing and World Nomads.

Get Packing & Travel Essentials Ready
Check out the Bucket List Journey Amazon Store to find all my favorite travel essentials. Everything from Packing cubes, to travel adapters and toiletry containers to walking shoes.

*Lastly, check travel.state.gov for visa requirements and safety information.
