Tragedy struck in Louisiana this week after morning fog and wildfire smoke turned to what’s being referred to as “tremendous fog” — and brought on a large pileup of over 150 autos, leaving a minimum of eight motorists lifeless.
Through the Monday morning commute on Interstate 55 close to New Orleans, an estimated 168 autos had been concerned in a large crash in each the southbound and northbound lanes. Greater than 25 folks had been transported to hospitals with accidents.
Native authorities stated that a part of the pileup caught on fireplace after a tanker truck that was “carrying a hazardous liquid” was hit.

One motorist, Andrea Cryprian, took to Fb to doc the crash she encountered whereas caught on the Manchac Bridge, calling the scene “the center of a scary film.”
Louisiana State Governor John Bel Edwards took to X to share his condolences and encourage residents to donate blood with a purpose to assist the victims of the crash.

A mix of foggy circumstances and close by swamp and marsh fires created the “tremendous fog” setting within the sky, in accordance with the Nationwide Climate Service, as state authorities warned earlier within the morning to “keep away from the realm if potential” whereas touring.
