Air Fryer Bacon – a quick and mess-free method to cook bacon, and you can control how you want it cooked too
Quick and Easy Air Fried “Grilled” and “Fried” Bacon for Breakfast
My latest Air Fryer recipe in my mini series, is for Air Fryer Bacon. I have been “grilling” my bacon like this for over five years now, since I got my Ninja Max Dual Zone Air Fryer.
It’s a quick and mess-free method to cook bacon, and you can control how you want it cooked, with no extra oil or fat, that’s a plus for me.
We like our bacon crispy, as in the fat must be crispy, but the meat in the middle not too tough or chewy, which I can fine tune in my air fryer.
I have shared this recipe, such as it is, below with alternative cooking times which will hopefully suit how you like your bacon cooked.
Bacon – just the word makes me hungry! When I decided to go vegetarian for a couple of years, the smell of bacon made me almost jump back on the carnivore wagon.
I tend to use Back Bacon most of the time for butties and breakfasts; but there are many types of bacon cuts in the UK. I use Streaky Bacon for Pigs-in-Blankets and Stuffing.
Today’s recipe for Air Fryer Bacon is for 6 rashers of bacon, enough for two or three people, and uses back bacon. It’s always smoked bacon for us too.
I hope you are enjoying my Air Fryer series, next up is my recipe (method) for Air Fryer “Fried Bread”, which is another breakfast classic. Karen
Cooking Notes
- If using a baking paper liner, you may have to turn the sides underneath, when using a drawer air fryer, as the air blows them around.
- Bacon frying times:
- Crispy back bacon – 12 minutes at 200C
- Medium back bacon – 9 minutes at 200C
- Just cooked back bacon – 7 minutes at 200C
- Crispy streaky bacon – 10 minutes at 200C
- Medium streaky bacon – 8 minutes at 200C
- Just cooked streaky bacon – 6 minutes at 200C
- Times above are for thick cut, dry-cure butcher’s bacon, thinner cut bacon will take less time.
- Serve as part of a full English breakfast, for bacon butties (sandwiches)or for other recipes that ask for cooked bacon.

Ingredients
- 6 x rashers of thick cut smoked back bacon
- Spray oil (optional)
- OR 6 rashers of thick cut smoked streaky bacon
Instructions
- I used a drawer type air fyer, but you can use the basket in a multi-cooker air fryer too.
- Line the drawers or basket with baking paper.
- Lay the bacon rashers in the air fryer, making sure they don’t overlap. Spray with a little oil if you want. If using a baking paper liner, you may have to turn the sides underneath, when using a drawer air fryer, as the air blows them around.
- Set the temperature for 200C and the time for 12 minutes for thick cut crispy back bacon.
- For thin cut bacon, 8 to 9 minutes will usually be enough time, but the beauty of this way of cooking, is that you can check to see when it is cooked to your liking.
- Once the bacon is cooked to your liking, remove the bacon with tongs and lay kitchen pape to drain before serving.
- Serve as part of a full English breakfast, for bacon butties(sandwiches)or for other recipes that ask for cooked bacon.
