Amazon has caused concern among a large number of electronics sellers. The platform now requires extra prove that their branded products come from authorized suppliers. Those who fail to provide this evidence risk having their products removed from the platform starting September 17, 2025.
Amazon has asked sellers to submit invoices no older than 180 days that list at least 100 units. In addition, the company wants full supplier details, such as name, address, email and website. Documents must be submitted in PDF, JPG, PNG or GIF. The rules apply in several European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Brands and sectors
The new requirement affects well-known brands such as Samsung, Dyson, Canon, Philips, HP, Sony and Panasonic. It is unclear how many sellers have received a warning, but the number is large. Some of the affected shops do not even sell the mentioned brands.
Retailers must prove that they sell genuine branded products from recognized suppliers. The consequences of not providing the required information are serious: according to Amazon, listings will be removed.
Seller concerns
Many sellers complain about unclear communication. Some received multiple emails with different brand names, while it is not always clear for which products proof must be provided. Without the correct documents, they cannot sell existing stock on Amazon after September 17.
For European online retailers this means extra paperwork and potential loss of revenue. Those who cannot present complete supplier documentation will lose their product listings on Amazon. Existing inventory may have to be returned, destroyed or donated.
Amazon received customer complaints
According to Amazon, the purpose of this verification requirement is to ensure that only safe and authentic products are available on its marketplace. The company received customer complaints with “suspicious reasons,” questions about product authenticity or guideline violations. “We require sellers to demonstrate a proven track record of consistently sourcing goods from verifiable suppliers. We currently have insufficient information about your supply chain to confirm that you meet these requirements,” states one of the messages to sellers reviewed by OHN.
