Best Beach Clubs (With Swimming Pools) in Puerto Escondido

We may earn income from links in this post. Please read this Disclosure for details.

If you’ve opted for a condo or hotel in Puerto Escondido that doesn’t include a swimming pool, you can still soak up some resort-style luxury with a day pass to a Puerto Escondido beach club!

Whether it’s lounging by the pool with a cocktail in hand, taking in the ocean views from a pristine beach, or celebrating a special occasion with artisanal mezcal, these beach clubs are your gateway to indulgence.

They offer top-tier amenities such as poolside service, showers, loungers, hammocks as well as elevated cuisine and Mexico’s unforgettable Pacific Coast vibe.

1. Bacocho Beach Club

Hotel Suites Villasol is one of our favourite Puerto Escondido hotels for value. Not only is this low-rise hotel well located in the Bacocho neighbourhood but guests get access to Club Bacocho (formerly known as Club de Playa Villa Sol) at Bacocho Beach.

This newly-expanded and upgraded beach club features two large pools (one a large freeform and the other for kids) and a swim-up pool bar.

With its sprawling landscaped gardens and towering palm trees you’ll feel as though you’re at swanky resort.

While the price has gone up considerably in recent years (it’s now 1000 MXN pesos for the day) it can be worth the splurge. 600 pesos is allocated to food and drink so it’s 400 pesos for club access alone.

Lounge by the pool, order cocktails, play beach volleyball or take a stroll along wave-swept Bacocho Beach.

While it’s considered to be one of Puerto Escondido’s top beaches, it’s not swimmable due to its powerful undertows and rip currents.

It is possible to scramble over the rocks to Playa Coral, a private cove with calmer waters where many people do swim.

Bacocho Beach is also a top spot for turtle nestings and releases. 2 X 1 cocktails during Happy Hour 12:00-1:00pm.

The Bacocho Beach Club is also home to the beachfront restaurant Pez Gallo. It’s one of our favourite places for breakfast in Puerto Escondido.

Ask staff to call you a taxi when it’s time to leave. It’s a steep climb back up the hill.

2. Coco’s Club de Playa Beach Club

Coco’s Club de Playa is the beach club for the Posada Real, Puerto Escondido’s only all-inclusive hotel. As a result, the beach club itself is all-inclusive.

The admission cost of 1,600 MXN pesos (Children 6 years and up pay 1,100) for a day pass includes drinks, snacks and an unlimited buffet.

It also provides for access to the swimming pool and beach facilities. It’s open 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. You can book at entry to the Beach Club.

Hotel guests at Posada Real Puerto Escondido can get a ride back up to the hotel in a shuttle cart.

3. El Origen Ocean Club on Playa Palmarito

Set on beautiful, still-wild Playa Palmarito just past Chila outside Puerto Escondido (Google Map), El Origen Club de Playa (Beach Club) is a beautifully designed retreat with a zen vibe.

The chef, who hails from Puebla, has crafted a menu that’s elevated Mexican specialities with an international spin. Enjoy bowls packed with veggies and grains, ceviches along with burgers and other beach fare.

Mezcal is front and centre on the extensive cocktail menu. Craft beer, Micheladas, champagne and mocktails are also enticing options.

Cost of a day pass is 500 MXN pesos reimbursable with minimum food and beverage purchase. Visit El Origen to make a reservation.

You can enjoy loungers, a beach hammock, showers, ultra clean washrooms (La Luna for women and El Sol for men!) and long walks on a pristine beach.

You can also overnight in one of the 10 spacious new villas.

They come decked out with kitchen, rainshower and terrace, many also have ocean views. This is one of the best boutique hotels in Puerto Escondido if you’re looking for a luxe stay with a zen atmosphere.

🌟 Pro Tip: You’ll need a car or taxi to get to El Origen. It’s too far to walk from the highway!

4. Day Pass to Beachfront Paradise Boutique Hotel at Agua Blanca Beach

Another popular place for a day trip around a swimming pool is at Playa Agua Blanca a secluded beach 40 kilometres southeast of Puerto Escondido (Google Map).

It’s a 30-minute drive by car from Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido, 45 minutes from Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM) and 1 hour from Aeropuerto Internacional de Bahias de Huatulco (HUX).

While many people opt to spend the day at a seafood restaurant/palapa it’s also possible to get a hotel day pass.

This is the best of both worlds as you can enjoy the views of the powerful waves from the comfort of a sparkling swimming pool. Your menu options are broader as well.

One of the best choices for a Day Pass at Playa Agua Blanca is Beachfront Paradise Boutique Hotel on Calle Delfines (Google Map).

You’ll enjoy a sparkling clean swimming pool, friendly service, a beach zone with hammocks (and honour bar), breezy terrace and excellent wifi.

Cost is 500 MXN pesos (minimum food and beverage consumption at onsite Casa de Pierogi). The food on the menu is European and includes home-cooked specialties such as goulash, pierogies and a fantastic chilled beet soup.

🌟 Foodie Tip: Beachfront Paradise is also the place to enjoy a craft beer. There’s a wide selection of domestic and international craft beers including 3 Lunas, brewed right in Agua Blanca.

5. Nossa Hotel Beach Club at Agua Blanca

Nearby Nossa Hotel is another great option for an Agua Blanca day pass. It’s also around a 30-minute drive from Puerto Escondido.

Begin your day with a dip in the swimming pool, a refreshing oasis surrounded by tropical palms. Beach Club Nossa’s facilities are modern, with well-maintained showers and spacious washrooms.

For dining, choose from a selection of comfortable tables where you can enjoy a leisurely meal in the shade or simply recline on one of the padded loungers.

Sun worshippers should arrive early to score one of the loungers positioned right on the beach, offering uninterrupted views of the famous waves on this stretch of coastline.

It’s a short walk (just a few steps) from Hotel Nossa and Beach Club to the tidal pools.

The cost for a Day Pass is 300 MXN pesos (minimum food and beverage consumption).

The food menu has the usual selection of seafood, burgers and pastas with slightly higher prices than other restaurants in Agua Blanca.

There are no fresh oysters on the menu at Nossa. But you can easily walk over and order a platter from one of the nearby palapa restaurants. These are the best restaurants in Puerto Escondido for fresh oysters.

The hotel itself gets mixed reviews and I haven’t spent a full day here but a Nossa Hotel Day Pass gets consistently high marks from guests.

Another popular day trip (but there’s no swimming pool) is to head to Roca Blanca Beach.

Puerto Escondido Beach Clubs Without Swimming Pools

For those seeking a different kind of luxury beach club experience in Puerto Escondido, there are plenty of options that don’t include swimming pools but offer their own unique appeal.

Clubs like Cañabrava, Piedra de la Iguana, La Isla Beach Club and Mar & Wanna are known for their fun atmosphere with live DJs, beach dance floors, and entertainment. Amenities include luxurious Bali beds, swings, hammocks and futons where you can unwind in style.

These clubs are perfect for enjoying some Oaxacan cuisine, bottle service, beachside parties, or simply relaxing with a cocktail as the sun sets.

Compared to the nightlife in Huatulco, Puerto Escondido has a lot to offer.

Whether you go for a beach club with a swimming pool or a nightclub where you can dance under the stars, Puerto Escondido’s beach clubs offer an unforgettable day (or night) of fun and relaxation.
