Looking for a resort day pass in Cancun? Read on to get the details about getting a Day Pass to Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf Resort and Spa.
We first visited Dreams Playa Mujeres in 2016 when it first opened. We’ve been back to this all-inclusive Cancun resort a few times since then, most recently in January 2024.
While there have been quite a few changes over the years, this luxury resort — set on a long, white sand beach just 15 minutes north of the city of Cancun — continues to be a top choice for beach-loving couples and families.
NOTE: If you’re looking for an all-inclusive Cancun day pass for adults-only, check out our guide to Getting a Resort Day Pass to Secrets The Vine Cancun. It’s on our list of the Best Couples All-Inclusive Resorts in Cancun.
What is a Day Pass to an All-Inclusive Resort?
First of all, what exactly is a day pass? When resorts are not fully booked, they make Day Passes available to guests who are not overnighting at the hotel.
With a Dreams Cancun Day Pass, while you don’t get to overnight at the resort or get a hotel room, you do get to enjoy the delicious food, drink and all-inclusive benefits that come with the five-star luxury Dreams Resorts & Spa brand.
If you have a long airport layover, want a day of luxury or simply want to check out one of the newest all-inclusive Cancun resorts for an upcoming vacation or special event such as a destination wedding, honeymoon or milestone birthday, a day pass is an excellent option.
Here’s a complete guide to Dreams Playa Mujeres Cancun Resort if you’re looking for an all-inclusive Day Pass near Cancun International Airport (CUN).
Overview of Dreams Playa Mujeres Resort
Opened on November 30, 2016, Dreams Playa Mujeres is located within the gated community of Playa Mujeres which is a long white sand beach facing the island of Isla Mujeres.
Dreams Playa Mujeres is a member of The Inclusive Collection, part of the World of Hyatt. This collection includes several brands we’re familiar with including Impression by Secrets, Secrets Resorts & Spas, Zoetry, Hyatt Ziva and Zilara, Sunscape, Breathless, Hyatt Centric and many others.
Note that it is NOT on the actual island of Isla Mujeres itself which means you don’t need to take a ferry.
Instead, it’s on a peninsula, a very long sand spit that ends at Isla Blanca, facing Isla Mujeres which makes it easily accessible via 40 minute taxi ride from Cancun International Airport or 10 minutes from downtown Cancun.
There are a few other resorts, such as Excellence Playa Mujeres, family-friendly Finest Playa Mujeres and Secrets Resort & Spa on Playa Mujeres.
But for now, it’s relatively secluded and free of crowds.
The sand is white, soft and mostly free of sargassum seaweed. But it’s worth checking the latest seaweed conditions in Cancun Riviera-Maya to be sure.
Playa Mujeres is a popular spot for kite-surfing so do expect some wind depending on the season.

Quick Snapshot of Dreams Playa Mujeres Features
This all-suite resort features 502 luxury suites wrapped around a vast expanse of of three terraced swimming pools, six whirlpools, a water park and two children’s pools.
There is also a Lazy River exclusive to Preferred Club members (access is not included on this Cancun day pass).
In total, there’s a whopping 65,000 square feet of swimming pools to keep you entertained. The Day Pass Hospitality area is conveniently located near the Water Park.
- Dreams Playa Mujeres is large but not so huge you need a golf cart to get around. Everything you need for a Day Pass is within easy walking distance. That’s important if you only have a day to spend on a property. You want to spend your time on the beach or around a swimming pool, not riding a golf cart.
- During the times we visited, the resort was at 80-85% occupancy yet didn’t feel crowded.
- Even though it’s family-friendly resort, there are lots of quiet places to relax on a lounger or enjoy a romantic dinner. While it’s suitable for romantic getaway in Cancun (and very popular for destination weddings) I’d recommend Secrets The Vine if you really want a child-free experience.
- Free WiFi is available throughout the property and worked perfectly during our stay.
- Fitness Centre is very modern with AC, drinking water and new equipment
- There’s a full slate of entertainment activity including beach volleyball, pool volleyball, aerobics and more.
Restaurants To Enjoy on this Cancun Day Pass
In addition to the poolside wait service, this all-inclusive Dreams Cancun Day Pass gets you:
- The all-inclusive options include a collection of 13 restaurants conveniently located throughout the property.
- No reservations are necessary at any of the restaurants except Hibachi. You can book this show cooking experience through the Hyatt app. Reservations open online at 1 pm. You need to act fast as the spots fill up quickly.
- Your day pass provides all-inclusive access to the above including the World Café buffet (complete with kid’s section), That’s a Wrap (made to order and pre-made wraps and salads) featuring an outdoor terrace, Tides poolside grill as well as our personal favourite, Maris where you can dine on ultra fresh seafood such as ceviche, seafood cocktails and grilled catch of the day.
- Our family absolutely loved Gaucho Grill, a Brazilian Rodizio-style dining experience. Start with the expansive antipasto bar buffet, then signal when you’re ready for the main event—succulent meats (beef sirloin, ribs, pork, chicken and more) served tableside on skewers!
- Gaucho Grill is one of the most popular restaurants at Dreams so register early. They’ll call you via a buzzer once your table is available.
- There are also several pop-up culinary experiences — such as paella, carne asada, burgers and sausages– to enjoy during the day.
- Dolce ice-cream parlour and cafe is a hit for all ages.
Pro Tip: There’s a dress code for dining at certain restaurants at Dreams Playa Mujeres. While it’s not strictly enforced men should wear long pants and shirts with collars. No wet bathing suits anywhere indoors.
Bars at Dreams Playa Mujeres
- There are nine bars to choose from at Dreams Playa Mujeres. The most popular at the Interlude Lobby Bar and the Sandlegs Bar (in the oceanview pool) but there’s never much of a wait for cocktails even there.
- Tipping is welcome but not necessary as you’ll still get great service if you don’t happen to tip. We generally tipped between 20 – 50 MXN ($1 – $2 USD) to 100 MXN per drink and food order.
Hours: The Grotto Bar is open 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the Interlude Lobby Bar open 10:00 am to 1:00 am, the Mermaid and Sandlegs Bars 10:00 am to 10:00 pm and Sands Bar 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Activities
-
Our family—adults, teens, and two energetic kids aged 6 and 8—had an absolute blast at the two water parks at Dreams Playa Mujeres! The Children’s Water Park is a paradise of splash-filled excitement, featuring tipping buckets, thrilling slides, cascading waterfalls, climbing nets, and more.
- For bigger thrills, the two larger water slides are perfect for adults and kids who meet the height requirement. Open daily until 5 pm, these slides are all about speed, excitement, and non-stop fun. With no lines to slow us down, the only thing holding us back was how much energy we could muster.
-
This area of the resort is relatively uncrowded, offering plenty of shade, comfortable loungers, and oversized towels to relax in style. While there’s no direct food service, you can grab takeout from Tides or the World Café to enjoy at the water park.
- For a refreshing treat, the Currents Juice Bar is nearby—technically part of the Preferred Club area by the Lazy River, but it seemed accessible to everyone.
- I appreciated that lifeguards were stationed both at the top and bottom of the slides, as well as keeping a watchful eye over the children’s water park. Note that you’re responsible for supervising you children at all times and they can’t be left unattended unless registered at the Explorer’s Club (kids club).
- Other activities include pickle ball and padel tennis (by reservation) , archery, basketball, rock climbing, mini-golf and more near the Core Zone (teen area for ages 13 and up).
- There’s also beach volleyball, water volleyball, Zumba, ping pong, Crazy Game competitions and more. Download the World of Hyatt Inclusive Collection app or check the schedule in the lobby for the schedule.

Update on Swimming with Dolphins at Playa Mujeres
When I first visited Dreams Playa Mujeres, there was no Delphinus dolphin enclosure on Playa Mujeres beach.
When planning our most recent visit in 2025, I was concerned about the visual effect this structure might have.
Full disclosure: After having witnessed dolphins frolicking in the wild in Puerto Escondido, I’m not a supporter of captive dolphin programs.
Several international scientific authorities state that swimming or interacting with captive dolphins is damaging to their health.
Whale and Dolphin Conservation, a leading UK charitable organization, campaigns against keeping of all whales or dolphins in captivity, including sea pens. They are unable to communicate, roam and play as they would in the wild. The stress of their confinement causes behavioral abnormalities, illness and lowered resistance to disease.
Sea pens close to shore may contain only very shallow water, which can get hot in the sun and be affected by hurricanes as well as pollution from sunscreen and other contaminants.
If you do want to interact with dolphins, World Animal Protection Organization recommends you look for a responsible dolphin or whale watching excursion as an alternative to a captive dolphin encounter.
However, I was relieved to see that the Delphinus captive pens are not visible from the resort. Nor are they particularly intrusive on the beach.
