Perhaps my favorite policy event of the year is the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Legislative Conference, one of the largest and most influential gatherings of African American thought leaders and policymakers throughout the country. The meeting gave Arise the opportunity to thank both Members and partner organizations for their support over the past year as steadfast advocates for Arise and flexible work.
Arise was honored to sponsor the Georgia and Virginia delegation receptions, in addition to the Collective Power Brunch at Yardbird Table & Bar (best grits ever!), where I had the opportunity to provide remarks to a group that included political leaders from across the country who recognize that flexible work opportunities are essential to the millions of Americans they represent.
One of the many highlights of the conference was the chance to connect with our amazing partner organization, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., who hosted the USBC Blackprint Policy Brunch, where influential Black business leaders and policymakers converged to discuss strategies and policies for advancing Black economic empowerment. This exclusive brunch offered a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue, network with key stakeholders, and shape the future of Black entrepreneurship.
The capstone event was the Phoenix Awards Dinner on Saturday night, keynote by President Biden and Vice President Harris.
Overall, it was incredibly gratifying to connect with friends, colleagues, and passionate thought leaders dedicated to driving change through community. Already looking forward to next year!
