Homebased caregiving is one of the best fields to get into if you’re looking for work in the current employment marketplace. The jobs are plentiful, and many have very few educational requirements.
Clients are often in urgent need of service, which means you can usually get started making money in a hurry. Today, we’re taking a look at seven ways to work on your own time as a caregiver.
Caregiving jobs generally involve staying with elderly people or children during times when their family members can’t be present. Laid-back people with good social skills tend to do better in this line of work.
Keep in mind, the work isn’t necessarily easy. You might be helping with basic daily tasks, staying constantly vigilant, handling meals, and keeping someone safe and cared for every step of the way.
Several online companies have sprung up to simplify the process by connecting you with clients in your area. Below we’ve listed a few of the more reputable ones so you can get started right away.
7 Sites For Offering Your Caregiving Services
1 – Care.com
This site is basically a full-fledged caregiving marketplace. Clients post jobs here, and caregivers make profiles to offer their services.
There are sections for child care, senior care, pet care, tutoring, and housekeeping. Caregivers are free to either set their own prices up-front, or negotiate pay-rates with customers on a case by case basis, depending on the nature and difficulty of the job.
Note that a background check is required to start applying for jobs. Additionally, you can sign up for their premium membership, but you don’t have to. It just gives you more visibility and access to more jobs.

2 – Sittercity
A site focused specifically on babysitting. The whole setup is pretty similar to Care.com. Parents post job offers, and sitters make searchable profiles, which means there’s two ways to get hired.
Parents will seek you out based on your profile, but you’re also free to take a more active approach, browsing job offers in your area and applying to those that seem most interesting.
The average pay is approximately $17 per hour, but it will vary a lot from job to job.
Sittercity is always free for sitters to use. Plus, they have an app to make job alerts, messaging, and applying much easier.

3 – Helpr
Helpr is a modern childcare service that connects families with experienced, vetted babysitters and nannies through a user-friendly app. The company emphasizes flexible, part-time care that fits around your schedule, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for occasional gigs or want to supplement your income.
To join, you need at least two years of childcare experience and must pass a background check. While they prefer caregivers with CPR certification, it’s not always required to start. Once you get approved, you’ll receive job alerts via the app and can begin accepting bookings.
Helpr sitters typically earn between $20 and $30 per hour. Payment is processed through the app, and you’re covered by professional liability insurance for each booking.

4 – Honor
Honor is a senior care company that hires caregivers as employees instead of independent contractors. This means you get access to benefits like weekly direct deposit, paid training, and 401(k) matching if you work enough hours.
The company matches you with clients based on your availability and skillset. You can manage your schedule and client information through the Honor Care Pro app, which includes details on each client’s needs and a note-taking feature to help with things like medications and care tasks. Support is also available 24/7 from their in-house team.
Pay ranges from $14 to $22 per hour depending on your experience and the complexity of the care provided. There are also bonuses for working holidays and consistent performance.
5 – Urbansitter
UrbanSitter is a popular child care platform where families post babysitting, nanny, and related care jobs. You can create a profile, list your experience, and apply to local jobs that fit your schedule.
To access all features and apply to jobs, you’ll need to purchase a membership, which includes a background check, instant payouts, and customer support. You set your own rates, and you keep 100% of your earnings.
Families are required to verify their identities for safety, and UrbanSitter has dedicated support available every day.
According to their site, top sitters can earn over $1,000 per week.

6 – Bubble
Bubble is a UK-based babysitting app that handles bookings and payments directly through the platform, keeping everything simple and secure. You decide when you want to work and set your own hourly rate.
Parents have profiles with reviews from previous sitters, so you can see who you’re working with before accepting a job.
Bubble also provides public liability insurance for sitters who book through the app.
7 – Babysits
Babysits is a global babysitting platform that works like a community bulletin board, letting parents and sitters post profiles and browse one another. Sitters can join for free, set their own rates, and apply to jobs in their area.
Parents must pay a small fee to message and book sitters, but sitters are not required to pay unless they want access to extra features. The site also uses a badge system to reward reliable sitters and increase visibility over time.
Rates are set by you and vary based on location, experience, and the job itself.
