Mrs Hall’s Yorkshire Dales High Tea – A proper Yorkshire High Tea, just like Mrs Hall serves in James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small
A Proper Yorkshire Dales High Tea as served in Skeldale House
We’ve just returned from a break to the Yorkshire Dales, which is a favourite part of the England for both of us.
We stayed in the pretty little village of Aysgarth, in Wensleydale, in a really lovely B & B, which we will definitely return to again in the near future.
From our B & B, after a full cooked breakfast every day, we travelled all over the Dales, and visited some beautiful countryside.
We tried lots of local produce, such as local cheeses and ales, and enjoyed some fabulous pub grub in the evenings.
We’re both avid fans of all of the James Herriot books, and the TV series All Creatures Great and Small, and we loved seeing all the locations used in the latest Channel 5 series.
Also, as a cook, recipe creator and lover of food, it’s fascinating seeing what Mrs Hall serves to James, Siegfried, Tristan and Helen in the TV series.
Apparently, she is famous for her buttery Shortbread biscuits, as well as her full cooked English breakfasts, Sunday Roasts and her Dales High Teas too.
I am a BIG fan of a proper High Tea myself, as well as my Sunday Tea Trays which are always featured every week on Instagram here: Sunday Tea Tray Suppers.
So, in my first post about our trip to the Yorkshire Dales, and as All Creatures Great and Small is back on our screens this Aurumn, here’s my menu for a proper Dales High Tea.
I have posted some images (below) of a recent High Tea we enjoyed with our family, with all the recipes I used. I hope you enjoy this menu if you try it, and please do let me know, Karen
