Should Christians Celebrate Halloween? – Sarah Titus

Do you see other Christians celebrating Halloween and question whether it’s something you should participate in?

Maybe you’ve already been celebrating Halloween each year and are considering if, because you’re a new believer now, if it’s still acceptable to celebrate it.

Let’s dive into the Word of God, where all the answers to life are (2 Timothy 3:16-17)!

Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

First off, I want to acknowledge that the Bible doesn’t specifically mention Halloween.

If you’re paying attention, you’re probably thinking, “Huh??? You just said the answers to all of life are in the Bible, but Halloween isn’t there. What?”

BECAUSE it is NOT there, THAT is the answer.

See God doesn’t just give us a bunch of rules and regulations to keep. He wants us to think with our hearts and our brains. We are not mindless zombies. Get it…Halloween…zombies. Okay, I had to put that in there. 😊

He wants us to be thinking people. People who try our best to live a godly life and everyone’s lives look
different.

Maybe your husband is really into Halloween and wants to celebrate it. He’s your husband, you should submit. He’s not asking you to sin.

But maybe your daughter is starting to like Halloween too much and going into a witchcraft direction with her life. You could be leading her to sin, saying something like that is okay. Don’t celebrate it.

Maybe your friend you’re witnessing too is coming out of witchcraft and into Christianity. You don’t want to be a stumbling block for her. Don’t celebrate it, for her because of your testimony to her.

Life is different for everyone. We all have different preferences and situations. The point of this is not for everyone to look the same, but for us to all have pleasing HEARTS before the Lord.

What does your conscience say to do? Make it a matter of prayer and then, feel free to make the decision YOU WANT to make and be okay with that. Don’t let others tell you that you can’t. And if you don’t want to celebrate it, don’t.

Maybe you don’t want to celebrate it yourself, but you want to hand out candy and tracts to evangelize. No problem. Or maybe you want to only celebrate it while your kids are super little. Again, no problem.

Do what you feel God wants YOU to do in your own Christian journey because there is no command!
