strong growth in Poland and Austria

One year after launching its marketplace in Poland and Austria, Kaufland has already achieved strong growth. It now has a total of 3,000 online sellers that have joined in Poland. In Austria, it has even more sellers, with a total of 5,000 sellers.

Kaufland is a hypermarket chain from Germany, and is part of the Schwarz Group. It has brick-and-mortar stores, as well as an online marketplace. This summer, the marketplace launched in France and in Italy.

Average sales increase of 15%

In April last year, the launch in Poland and Austria was announced. Since then, Kaufland has gained up to three million online visitors a month in Poland. It also has 3,000 online sellers registered on the marketplace. According to Kaufland, its marketplace sellers in Poland have achieved an average sales increase of more than 15 percent.

The number of retailers on the Austrian marketplace increase over 50% in the last 6 months

In Poland, Kaufland now offers eight million products, in more than 6,400 categories. And in Austria, it has over 12 million products. Many German online sellers that were already active on Kaufland.de have now also joined the Austrian marketplace. As a result, the number of retailers has grown more than 50 percent during the last six months. Kaufland.at now has more than 5,000 sellers.

‘We want to become one of the largest marketplaces’

“We have grown very rapidly in Poland and Austria in a very short period of time and are already among the top marketplaces in both countries. Kaufland.at’s goal is to become the largest online marketplace in Austria. The marketplace landscape in Poland is significantly more competitive, but despite the strong competition, we want to become one of the largest online marketplaces here in the coming years and, in the long term, offer a product range similar to that in Germany. Forty five million items are already available there”, says Gerald Schönbucher, CEO of Kaufland e-commerce.
