About the Role: Background Check Specialist
As a Background Check Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity and safety of Thumbtack’s service provider community. You’ll handle background check adjudication, identity verification, and data privacy requests in compliance with U.S. privacy laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and adjudicate background checks for service pros
- Make eligibility decisions based on background findings
- Resolve identity verification issues with accuracy and professionalism
- Manage data summary requests per U.S. privacy laws
- Communicate clearly with users regarding background and privacy matters
- Collaborate with Legal, Support, and Sales teams
- Help define and track KPIs and OKRs to measure team impact
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience in Trust & Safety, Compliance, HR, Law Enforcement, or Legal
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information
- Strong time-management and caseload prioritization skills
- Clear, professional communication across various audiences
- Adaptability, critical thinking, and a growth mindset
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Compensation (Hourly Ranges Based on Location):
- $30.87 – $39.96/hr – San Francisco, San Jose, NYC, Seattle
- $27.79 – $35.97/hr – Austin, DC, CA, MA, NJ, WA
- $26.25 – $33.95/hr – All other U.S. locations
